Resolved: My Purse was Stolen from my Hotel Room

Bottom-line my purse was stolen and still no resolution Below is the letter my husband wrote to the Manager at the Arch, after almost three month's of frustration trying to work with the Director of Security Dear: Mr. Hindsley I am writing to bring to your attention a serious issue with the Hyatt Regency St. Louis at The Arch, this Hyatt lacks the proper security, safety and customer service, that customers should be receiving from a Hyatt property. On the 18th of April my wife and I stayed at The Arch were her purse was stolen by one of the associates. Upon checkout we requested the Bell-hop station for assistance with our luggage. I trusted the Bell-hop to load all our luggage, he either intentionally or unintentionally failed to load my wife's other purse onto the cart. We did not notice the purse was missing until we arrived home. We immediately called the Hyatt to attempt to retrieve the purse and was routed to house cleaning. The house cleaning associate informed us that no purse has been returned to lost and found and then they preceded to have the room check to see if the purse was still in the room, which it wasn't. At that time, I asked if I should file a police report for the stolen purse and the associate said no, call tomorrow and speak with security, the purse might be returned by then and if not they will assist you. I called the following day and spoke to an associate and learned that the purse hadn't been returned and that they were going to do an investigation, I asked again should I file a police report and the answer was no, it may take a couple days for the purse to be turned in and in the meantime we will investigate. I was finally able to get in contact with director of security and I learned that I was the main focus of the investigation, as if I was the criminal, instead of the bell-hop, cleaning staff or another associates that may have access to the hotel room, at that time I filed the police report, which basically has gone nowhere as well. From the very beginning of this incident I have been misguided by Hyatt associates, delayed by Hyatt associates, and even lied to by Hyatt associates. The first associate should have said, please file a police report right away. I even started to think that the security director is intentionally trying to delay the process, as for being lied to, I called the Consumer Affairs phone number to get your mailing address to mail this letter and they provide me the Consumer Affairs Omaha mailing address. I am a frequent travel domestically and internationally for work and pleasure and I have never had any problems in the past, I thought it was a fluke, until I recently learned that my wife's uncle has a lawsuit against a Hyatt in NY for items stolen from his room, after that I did some investigation online and it appears that the Hyatt has issues with associates stealing from their customers. I am asking for your assistance in helping me resolve this issue, I hope to hear back from you and/or your staff about this incident. I can be reached by phone at (###) ###-#### at any time or by email at #######@msn.com . If you can not provide assistance, you leave me with no other choice but to escalate this issue, which would be unfortunate, because I am certain this can be resolved at The Arch. Sincerely, Jason & Agustina

I'd suspect you were involved also... Your whole rant sounds so suspicious, lots of red flags.

Also, this is such a common scam to begin with. You seem butthurt because you failed at it.

I could reply and/or comment to your post in a negative way, but I won't waste my time Mr. Anonymous to stoop down to your level, by the way which is not helpful to the public.

Thank you for reminding me, that I needed to mark this post as resolved and/or try to get it removed.

Have a good day

The HYATT chesapeake bay

I am very disappointed with this place my wife and I stayed here for 1 night. After having a situation these people do not care about you as a guest and will do whatever to charge an extra penny if necessary. The food has gone down hill over the years. The club serves instant frozen food for appetizers and if you are of a certain culture they watch you eat those little walmart appetizers as if they really paid a lot for them. The accounting apartment does not have customer concern just your dollar if they can get it. Be careful they will abuse your credit cards on file for their advantage. They over charged my card recently. I think I paid for the staff lunch courtesy of my credit card. I will let my reviews be known on site because the experience was absurd and there are too many other nice hotel in Maryland to settle at this one. I usually stay here twice a year for 4 days each on the club floor. Not worth the money anymore, this is not a true 5 star hotel. Just a 2/ 1/2 with fancy decorations to camoflouge.

BURGLARIZED AND VICTIMIZED BY HYATT REGENCY ROCHESTER

I stayed at the Hyatt Regency hotel in Rochester, NY with my wife and young son last August. We were seduced by their advertising the best in comfort and security. When we got to the lobby to check in, the first thing we saw was police; there was some kind of incident. We checked into our room, and unlike other hotels we have stayed in, it had no safe in which to keep our valuables. We asked to leave some things in the safe deposit at the front desk, as advertised. We were told they had no such thing. After two hours of calling room service, we went out to eat. We left our passports and other valuables in the room. When we returned, our things had been stolen! We reported this, and told us that they had no cameras or way to know who had burglarised us. They told us not to call the police, because it might not be in our best interest to do so. We called the police anyway and filed a report. I lost valuable business overseas because I had to stay and deal with our stolen passports. Hyatt's answer: we must have left the door open!! We certainly did not. This is outrageous. This was an inside robbery. And what happened to all the state-of-the-art security they advertised? This has happened before, according to complaints I see in Trip Advisor. We live outside of the country, and with great effort, we hired attorneys in New York, and have filed a lawsuit in federal court. Their answer: it must be our fault. This is absolutely outrageous. A hotel that advertises itself as the cream of the crop, I have been in better hotels in the worst of places. HYATT ought to be investigated for false advertising, and posing a serious threat to the public. This was an inside job, and they act as if they could care less. I WILL NEVER STAY AT A HYATT HOTEL EVER AGAIN. I don't stay at a hotel, at those prices, to be robbed, and by the way ... the rooms are not at all well-equipped or comfortable, the staff is nasty, and obviously, somebody with a key goes around stealing from the rooms after they force them to go out by never showing up with room service. The lawsuit pending is NUNEZ V HYATT in US DISTRICT COURT, Rochester, NY.

NEVER use a hotel safe and don't ever think your valuables are safe in your hotel room. Obviously you are new to travel.

If you have ever used a hotel safe and forgotten your password, you phone the front desk and they send someone up to open it up. Do you ACTUALLY think that they are the only person that knows how to get into the safe? You need to come back to reality buddy.

You are not the sharpest knife in the box!

Your comment adds nothing to the discussion. Why should you have to take your valuables with you when you are paying for a safe environment to have your valuables in?

It's like saying never leave anything anywhere because it's never safe.

This was obviously an inside job (someone entered their room) so the "safe" argument has nothing to do with this. Plus, if someone goes up to reset your safe and steal your valuables, it's also pretty obvious who did it.

You sir, are also not the sharpest knife in the box and added nothing to this but a condescending "suggestion."

Guest

Keep up your good work. Let everyone know.

There is no excuse for not having a safe at this price level.

The Hyatt people mandate a safe. Why was there none?

Biased against freedom of the press

On 30-June-2014 newsman Jesse was not only escorted out of the Albuquerque Hyatt Regency, by the police, but also issued an injunction against returning. Should he return, he was told on camera, he would be arrested. Why? For doing his job interviewing attendees of the NOW convention for FOX news. Watch the video. Was he edgy? Of course, he's a reporter. Was he mean, impolite, or chauvinistic? Watch the video! He was clear, direct, engaging, even playful. He was not hiding anything. There was no reason whatsoever to ban him from their premises other than an aversion to a conservative perspective. Talk about unfair treatment of the press! And they want my business?

Hyatt - Staff Review

i was planning with my family to visit hyatt regency ludhiana restaurant.  it was my sister's birthday and i called 2 to 3 times in hyatt regency ludhiana,  India.  I just asked for complimentary cake for my sister's birthday or any kind of discount because every restaurant at present give such discounts to their customers and it is not about money or something. It is only about hospitality  what they show towards their customers.  but ur staff was so rude with me they straight away said no we can't do anything for u and it was so disappointing that a well known hyatt's staff talk like this to their customers. but sorry I will never prefer to visit hyatt again or refer to somebody else if u r not going to change your attitude towards your customer.. Horrible customer service

This was my first time at Hyatt. I stayed at Hyatt Regency, Kolkata. I now regret my decision to stay at Hyatt. I have never experienced such deplorable service in any of the 5 star hotels I have stayed. I was given a bad room. It was the corner room and they have made a room out of the space available. There was leakage of water in the toilet. I right away asked for a room change. I was told someone will get back to me within 5 minutes. I was waiting for close to an hour and I got no response. So I called the front desk again. I was unable to reach them as my call was not picked up. I called again after sometime, only to be told that I have to wait for another hour. Hours went by but no reply. Someone called me later and asked the reason for my room change. I was told something will be done and nothing happened. I finally gave up and decided to settle for the room I was given. 2. I asked for a scissor or a knife to cut the baggage tag. I had to call again as none turned up even after an hour. It took some 1.5 hours for someone to turn up. 3. Whenever I tried to reach the “In Room Service”, “Concierge / Travel Desk”, none picks up. I had to call at least twice (sometimes even thrice) to reach someone. I have worked in the customer service industry and we were taught, if the phone rings more than twice, we are not doing our job. Personally speaking, it was quite shocking to experience such lousy service in a reputed hotel like Hyatt. Folks who wanna stay at Hyatt, watch out! Not a place I would recommend!

Did you consider that they were super busy?

What you describe certainly isn't the greatest service, but you're still blowing it way out of proportion.

On the scale of bad hotel visits, yours was pretty *** tame.

Sound to me like you're really reaching for things to complain about.

Seafood gone bad

Having a brunch at haytt has been a family tradition for years at Christmas. We had brunch yesterday and anybody who had seafood has got sick and up all night going in and out of bathroom. We were a group of 11 and had brunch at Haytt downtown Vancouver on the 25th of December 2013. It was my grandmother treated us so we didn't tell her. We dont want her feel bad. Luckly she did not have any seafood and so far no issues with her. We have another family get together today but bot sure if many will show up due to dairera problem. Hyatt in downtown Vancouver has simply ruined our holidays. I am going to contact food safety for further concerns.

Charged $62.00 for bottle of wine that wasn't mine

I dined at this restaurant while on vacation in La Jolla, staying at the Hyatt Hotel. In addition to my actual meal I was charged $62.00 for a bottle of wine, that I never ordered, drank or even signed for against my debit card. Is it even legal to charge someone when a signature is required? I spoke to two different managers explaining this, yet the charge was never removed. I don't care if their incompetent server made a mistake, it should be their responsibility to correct it, at their cost instead of the customers! Their food was awful and overpriced to start with. Beware of dining there, once they get your card to pay for your actual purchase there is just no telling what else or who else's food and drinks you may also end up paying for. Rip-Offs!!

Hyatt has no customer service

after talking to the front desk at Hyatt Regency 265 peachtree NE in Atlanta Ga we were told we could check in at 5 am the next morning. After making the decision to drive straight through from Louisiana for 12 hours after having been up and working 12 hours, we arrive after a 24 hour day. We being myself my wife and our 18 year old daughter. I will tell you the reason for the trip was for our daughter to be interviewed and speak to high school students about charity work. She had raised money through a fun run to provide 36 wheel chairs to handicapped people in third world countries and recognized nationally for her accomplishment. When we arrived at Hyatt we were informed that yes we could check in at 5 am as long as we paid for an extra night. After exhausting the possibilities in house I called Corp. Customer service. I was told this was their policy. Asked why we were not informed of the charge before she said THAT is not their policy. After being told we could check in at 8 am I did the math and decided $228.00 dollars for 3 hours was not woth it. So we checked in at 8 am and my daughter got 2 hours much needed sleep before her 11 am interview. While sitting waiting for her to finish her interview I keep thinking how I HOPE I get some kind of survey of how was our performane and rate us. Signed very pissed ( and tired )

Reservation not clear about non-refundable prepayment

My family and I had a chance to go to Comic *** in San Diego this year and were granted our vacations from work. We got the tickets and decided to treat ourselves to a nice hotel while staying in San Diego. We always thought a Hyatt hotel was a very high end hotel, or at least that is what their brand makes us thing of.

Well booked our rooms and it said we were booking it at an Advanced Booking Rate, but it mentioned that a prepayment would not be refundable at this rate. It never, and I mean never mentioned how much the prepayment was going to be, but I thought it would be the cost of one nights stay, well when my husbands vacation got cancelled (due to some mandatory training on a new computer system at work that just happened to be at the same time - they told him if he didn't go to the training, there may not be a job to keep) we had to cancel our Comic *** badges (which luckily we got our money back), we canceled the one night we had at the Hard Rock Hotel (which we got all of our money back), but when we had to cancel our room at Hyatt Regency in Mission Bay in San Diego, we were told that we would not be getting any of the $1000.00 that was charged to our credit card. It was not like we cancelled our room at the last minute, they have over 2 months to book that room, which I am sure they will do and get double the money.

We are not a rich family and this amount of money hurts us very much. We can no longer take a decent vacation this year, all thanks to Hyatt, which has the following as their mission statement:

Our Mission

Our mission is to provide authentic hospitality by making a difference in the lives of the people we touch every day, including our associates, guests and owners.

Our Goals

Our goal is to be the most preferred brand in each customer segment that we serve for our associates, guests and owners.

This is a bunch of bull and I say that they don't respect the average hard working American Family and I have had no luck in getting any of my money back, or at the most having it credited to another hotel in another city for a different time.

ID Saudi Card

Dear Sir/Madame I would like to bring to your attention an incident that happened through my last trip to Dubai, I am a Saudi Orthopaedic surgeon, who is a frequent traveler, during my last trip to Dubai on the 27th of January 2013 , I checked in Hyatt Regency Dubai at 22:00 , and while being checked in by one of your female receptionist I was surprised by her request that I have to submit my passport to them, any how I complied by giving her my national identity card which I use to travel through the gulf and is as good as the passport, she put it in an envelope, sealed it and put it in the hotel safe deposit, so far so good. While checking out on the 1st of February 2013 at 11:00 am I was dumbfounded when they could not find my ID card, I spend nearly an hour at the reception while they tried to find it, finally I had to leave without it as I had a flight to catch, now my tragedy starts as I left Saudi Arabia using my ID card, when I tried to enter without it, I had to explain what happened to my card and after a delay of more than 6 hours and a few phone calls I was allowed to enter, now this doesn’t stop here as I have to explain to the authorities what had happened to my card , and I wish that was all, unfortunately in Saudi Arabia the ID is a must in all official banking issues . I can’t stress the traumatic, financial and psychological effect on me. Dear Sir/Madame I would like you to investigate the matter in-depth , I would like my card to be returned to me as soon as possible and to be compensated for the all the financial and psychological trauma that I sustained. In the end Hyatt Regency is one of the most prestigious hotels of the world and was one of my favorite hotels but after what happened I would think twice before I check in again and this again will depend on your response. Hyatt in Calgary

My friend & I, both female & both over age 50, were treated really disrespectfully by the manager at the lounge at the Hyatt on 8 Ave & Centre St in Calgary, Alberta. We have been going to this Hyatt for many years to unwind after work or discuss business issues, since we work close by. We have been on a first name basis with previous managers & staff over the years & they have been great, even buying us the occasional drink. So on Nov 7/12 we went to our favourite lounge after work at about 5PM. By 8 PM we had consumed 2 regular highballs each. We were considering ordering another because we intended to stay for another hour or so, but when my friend mentioned in the course of general conversation with the waitress that she intended to drive home, the waitress refused to serve us another drink. She told us that the law states that if a customer says he is driving she can't legally serve them alcohol. She said she would refuse alcohol to a customer who divulged he was driving regardless of how many drinks he consumed, even if it was just 1 drink; she would refuse to serve him at all if he just came in and asked for his first drink if he told her he would be driving. This is obviously not the law, and a clear abuse of power. Neither of us was even close to impaired. Neither were we being loud or belligerent or rowdy. Again, we are both well over 50; we are business women; we are grandmothers, hardly the type to be a problem in a lounge. We asked to speak to the manager who informed us the waitress has a right to make a judgement call, and even though he agreed that we were not impaired, he still backed the decision of the waitress & refused to serve us another drink. I understand that there are times a waitress has to make a judgement call re a client being impaired, but surely it has to be based on some sort of evidence of impairment. If not, it is just a subjective decision made by a random waitress (and in this case a random manager) based on her own biases and discrimination, or maybe her bad mood at the moment. I tried to explain this to the manager but he meekly backed the waitress. As a long term customer at this lounge I felt very disrespected at the unwarranted bad treatment we received from this waitress and current manager.

I am writing from Hyatt Regency Kuantan, Malaysia and i am really disspointed with the service here

The sheets and towels are not white, the receptionist is not professional and speaks like everyday talk to the locals, the pillow stinks, the AC leaked, the room service never came. With the price they charge, i would never even consider coming again. The only good thing they have is the beach.. The rest fails bad!Its terrible, the internet line wasnt stable and we have to pay for 1.50 per minute after paying 400 dollars per nite.. they charge ct card without even getting consent overall very dissapointing and poor!! Justifiactions given from staff is very unpolished and shouldnt represent a 4 star!!

I think it's more unbecoming that you should deem someone who speaks as a local would, 'unprofessional'. Just because someone does not speak with an accent does not make them any less worldly.

Perhaps you would easily be praising them glorified praises had all they staff sopken eloquent English? Or maybe if you were given FREE internet?

How about FREE upgrade? Be factual and not PETTY for the rest of us to take heed.

Worst stay in a hotel of it's kind

This is the worst stay in a hotel of it's kind. There are basic flaws which are broken and management did not have anything to say except a sorry. It's not going to work for very long. At least I will never try to stay there in future. (a) Aircon without a heating facility! Can't imagine at a 4/5 star hotel. Surprisingly, hotel staff thinks Cooling should be the only function of AC, whereas AC Control Panel had a HEAT option which never works! (b) Over phone, all the time I was addressed as Mr. Kalita (few time even Ms Kalita). Room was booked in my name (Lahkar, Rupam) and Kalita is the surname of my wife. (c) I had to call 3 times to get some help with my luggage while departing. I gave a 10 min advance intimation and waited for 15 minutes before making he 2nd call. (d) Telephone on the bed side table was faulty; same was the case with weighing machine. (e) Though I would say that most of the guest services personnel were well cultured, we could still see few staff doing something unexpected here and there.

Bad service

his is regarding my horrible dinner experience at the Cafe at Hyatt regency pune. To start with it was pathetic service with no drinks menu offered to me. The staff was busy in chatting each other. More stunning that they were so busy in serving some group on other table who seemed to be the hotel managers by their dress code. I tried to call one staff who was busy in writing something and get me some starters from buffet and salad from the salad counter near me. But nothing came on my table and eventually someone told me that buffet time is over. The management should take note of it.
